Comments: City of Beloit Question 1: Reducing single-use plastic consumption is a priority for me.

  • Composable alternatives, etc. – Flying Pig
  • Use pages at all stores/reuse.

Comments: City of Beloit Question 2: I believe green infrastructure (tree canopy, pollinator plants, other vegetation) is important.

  • The need to put more green areas to span the beauty of the city
  • Save the environment
  • Biodiversity is important to me
  • Normalizing Rain barrels, community gardens, composting, bee keeping
  • As a frequent walker, there are not enough garbage cans outside of downtown area and recycling/compost bins would be awesome and are necessary
  • Parts of Riverside Park had dandelions – great – no pesticides on part of park
  • The city needs to invest and plant more native areas especially vacant lots full of grass
  • We must prioritize our environment to keep our planet safe.
  • We need to think about all life – plants/bugs/coyotes – (Oh yes, humans too)

Comments: City of Beloit Question 3: I support efforts to improve street safety, including better road design, reducing/enforcing safe speeds, and extending bike and pedestrian paths.

  • Liberty Ave needs more enforcement of speeding vehicles, especially semis.
  • The safety of the city is getting better One path or Rean(?) at a time Except LEE Lane - - (agreed about efforts to improve safety, except Lee Lane)
  • Most streets feel unsafe to ride on the street without bike lanes and speed regulation.Sidewalks tend to be cracked and damaged.
  • Unsafe bike routes/streets
  • Downtown – Pleasant St -big probs, speed and noise
  • So many streets have small children. Please monitor the traffic speeds on the side street – Tremont Dr. (especially)

Comments: City of Beloit Question 4: I am also concerned about these sustainability issues:

  • To be nice and courteous to one another
  • Extend bike lanes/sidewalks all the way down a road
  • Put the 4th stop light back in at Huebbe Parkway and Prairie Ave PLEASE
  • Cranston & Park Left turn signal
  • Old, healthy trees being removed for not reason.
  • More community gardens on the west side like Merrill Community Garden
  • Native plants and how they should plant more.
  • Energy/fossil fuels, natural wildlife /habitats, climate change, meat free options at restaurants, water shortages/pollution
  • Climate change
  • Pollution
  • Saving Native bees and giving native animals their habitats back!
  • Beloit allows the use of fireworks all year and people set them off every nice evening which causes trauma to animals, pets and birds. This should end.
  • Trash on the water (rivers, creeks, beach, lake)
  • Air quality & carbon emission
  • Creating more greenspace with native prairies
  • De-carbonizing the power grid;
  • Electrifying city vehicles
  • Charging stations
  • River cleanup
  • Better food options from companies that are more eco-conscious and health conscious
  • Addressing climate changed/carbon emissions
  • Living off grid
  • Gerrymandering- without stopping it, well never have sustainability
  • Community wide composting
  • Recycle
  • Housing for residents
  • rental costs maintained at level adjusted for income
  • safety with trees
  • garbage disposal
  • ·none right at this point
  • housing
  • animal waste – i.e. farming!
  • Native grass and plants
  • Initiatives
  • Education
  • Healthcare (to be more affordable)
  • We should teach sign language in schools.
  • Reducing the use of fossil fuels

Comments: Outside City of Beloit Question 1: Reducing single-use plastic consumption is a priority for me.

  • Of plastic that will biodegrade – (I think they mean not biodegrade), because they agreed
  • I would like to eliminate use of all plastic bags.Even all bags.In Australia, they do not provide any bags.
  • All plastic should be banned
  • Wish it was easier to do so (reduce)
  • Also making plastic out of compostable plastic that can degrade.
  • I try to limit my use by using my own containers and reusing plastic cups/bottles.

Comments: Outside City of Beloit Question 2: I believe green infrastructure (tree canopy, pollinator plants, other vegetation) is important.

  • Heck yes!
  • Yes!
  • I am fortunate to live in an area htat is wooded, however I’m concerned about the health of our plants and trees.
  • I am building my own prairie!! Love native plants.
  • Super, super important, prioritize this.

Comments: Outside City of Beloit Question 3: I support efforts to improve street safety, including better road design, reducing/enforcing safe speeds, and extending bike and pedestrian paths.

  • Absolutely!
  • Thanks for doing this
  • Milwaukee has street bumps to reduce speed and concrete to eliminate parking lane passing and speeding.
  • Had my own experience being hit be car while on my bike
  • Improving grades of crossing points!
