Are you interest keep elected and appointed officials on notice; they let them know that someone is watching what decisions are being made and how they are being made? To help ensure that the issues facing their community are being handled “in the sunshine,” in the open? As an observer you would attend a governmental meeting, take notes on what happens at the meeting, and reports back to the League and (hopefully) the community. By attending public meetings of local governmental bodies/agencies, you would learn more about what your government is doing. You would learn about the issues facing your community and are empowered to take action if warranted. You also learn how issues are being addressed.

The two year study will take as its foundation the National LWV’s position on the environment and natural resources, and will draw on the LWV of Wisconsin’s positions on natural resources. To conduct the study, we will partner with stakeholders within and beyond the LWV in order to understand environmental sustainability opportunities and challenges in the Beloit area, as well as existing assets and initiatives. We also hope to continue to hold public events from time to time to educate and inform the LWV membership and the general public about environmental sustainability and climate change. Such engagement will be critical if carbon neutrality is to be achieved in the Beloit area.
